Christophe Studio Guitar-2

I started learning classical piano as a kid but I truly got into music when I got my first electric guitar for my 13th birthday. Around the same time I also became really interested in synthesizers and quickly ended up owning a couple of keyboards and a drum machine. In order to plug them all together in my hi-fi amplifier, I had to buy a small mixer …and that's how it all started !

Soon after, I began recording demos for friends and local bands in my parents basement, starting with a 4 track Tascam Portastudio, later upgrading to an 8 track 1/2" reel to reel.

After studying at the Ecole Supérieure de Réalisation Audiovisuelle in Paris, I began my professional carrer as a studio assistant engineer, slowly moving my way up to freelance sound engineer. I was lucky to get involved in many projects where I had the chance to record and mix singles and albums in a wide range of musical genres from rock to pop to jazz to world music, and rap.

I also worked as a live sound engineer, mixing and recording shows. The photo on the right was taken during the Nuits de Champagne festival in France. I was recordings shows for a live album and had to fit 96 inputs onto 24 tracks, so there was a fair bit of pre-mixing !

When the big crisis hit the recording industry, I moved to the UK where I started to specialize in theatre sound and musicals. I got to work on West End shows and UK/internationals tours.

Having now stopped touring, I'm back to do what I really love: to record, mix and produce music. I have my own recording studio in my house in Kent where I can freely work on projects I like.
